Correctional Officer Christal Dunston Arraigned for Delivering Drugs, Other Charges

SALEM, Mass. – September 17, 2026 – The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announces that correctional officer Christal Dunston, 33, of Lynn was arraigned today on charges of conspiracy to violate drug law, two counts of delivering drugs/articles to a prisoner, and possessing drugs/articles with intent to deliver to a prisoner. Appearing in Salem District Court before the Hon. Randy Chapman, Dunston, who was represented by attorney John Valerio, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Commonwealth alleges that a Middleton House of Correction investigation found that Officer Dunston conspired to deliver the drug known as “K2” inside the facility. Assistant District Attorney Jessica Strasnick is prosecuting the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.

Strasnick requested, and Judge Chapman granted, that the defendant’s bail be set at $10,000. Chapman stated that, should Dunston meet bail, she must stay away from and have no contact with the House of Correction or any witnesses, and remain drug-free. Strasnick told the court that the Commonwealth expects to seek indictment in the case.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
