District Attorney’s Office Continues to Investigate Death of Haverhill Man

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALEM, Mass. – July 13, 2025 – On July 12th, 2025, District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone confirmed that on July 11th, during an attempt to restrain 43-year-old Francis Gigliotti, of Haverhill, Mr. Gigliotti became unresponsive. Medical aid was immediately rendered, and Mr. Gigliotti was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The initial call to police indicated an individual, now known to be Mr. Gigliotti, had fallen on the floor when leaving a building on White Street, was running in the middle of the street and that he hit a car with his head then continued down White Street. Video surveillance shows him weaving in and out of traffic, nearly being struck several times by passing motorists. Responding officers arrived on scene and found Gigliotti behaving in an erratic and belligerent manner and called for an ambulance to assess his well-being. Prior to its arrival, he fled the scene on foot and attempted to enter 124 Winter Street (Bradford Seafood) where police attempted to restrain him for safety reasons.

A full investigation surrounding what led up to Mr. Gigliotti’s initial encounter with police until the time of his death is underway. This investigation will include interviewing all responding officers, civilian witnesses, and coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will conduct a full autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. Investigators will also be collecting and reviewing all city camera footage and publicly available video. To that end, we are asking that the public share any videos or still photos they may have taken so that a review of any available media relative to this incident may be considered. You may upload any relevant media here or by using the QR code below. This office understands the importance of transparency when conducting any investigation and is committed to updating the public as soon as we are able to do so.
