Bolens Arraigned on Charges Including Assault and Home Invasion

SALEM, Mass. – October 9, 2025 – Roger Bolens, 25, of Augusta, Maine, was arraigned today in Essex County Superior Court on a dozen charges, the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker states.

Appearing before the Hon. William Bloomer, Bolens pleaded not guilty to home invasion, breaking and entering in the nighttime for the purpose of committing a felony, assault and battery on a person over 60 years of age, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, armed assault with intent to murder on a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery, and attempt to commit crime (strangulation).

The charges stem from two incidents over the weekend of July 26 and 27. Bolens is alleged to have attempted to strangle a 19-year-old woman in the restroom of an Andover restaurant. Hours later, authorities allege that he broke into an Andover residence and strangled and assaulted a woman in her 70s while she was sleeping, leaving her with serious injuries.

In Superior Court today, Judge Bloomer ordered that Bolens remain held pending a dangerousness hearing that was scheduled for November 21. Prosecutor Kate MacDougall represented the Commonwealth in the matter. Bolens was represented by attorney Valerie Fallica.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
