Edgar Morales-Alvarez Charged with Murder of Domingo Rivera, 44, of Haverhill

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAWRENCE, Mass. – July 31, 2026 – Edgar Morales-Alvarez, 32, was arraigned today in Lawrence District Court for the fatal shooting of Domingo Rivera, 44, of Haverhill, which occurred on July 23 on Bay State Road in Lawrence. Morales-Alvarez pleaded not guilty to murder before the Hon. Raquel Ruano. The judge ordered Morales-Alvarez held without bail and impounded records in the case.

Via a separate complaint, Morales-Alvarez was also charged with, and pleaded not guilty to, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and a firearm violation with three prior violent crimes or drug offenses.

Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Nasson handled the arraignment on behalf of the Commonwealth. Morales-Alvarez was represented by attorney Jeffrey Sweeney at the arraignment. The defendant is scheduled to return to court August 31 for hearings on both cases.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
