Elvin Joaquin Rodriguez Arraigned for Murder in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. – September 22, 2026 – Elvin Joaquin Rodriguez, 26, was arraigned for murder in Lawrence District Court today, the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker confirms. On Monday night shortly before 10:30 p.m., the Lawrence Police Department received several 911 calls reporting gun shots on Farnham Street in Lawrence. Upon arrival, they located Alexis Rodriguez Martinez, 51, of Lawrence with numerous gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced deceased. Elvin Rodriguez, the son of the deceased man, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and later charged with murder.

Appearing in Lawrence District Court before the Hon. Stephen Geary today, he faced charges of murder, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He pled not guilty to all charges and the judge ordered him held without bail, without prejudice. Assistant District Attorney Breanna Doud represented the Commonwealth, with Jocelyn Pichardo serving as victim/witness advocate. The defendant was represented by attorney Chris Norris. The Commonwealth moved to impound records in the case and Judge Geary granted that request.

The investigation into the fatal shooting includes the Lawrence Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Tucker’s office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Rodriguez is scheduled to return to court for a probable cause hearing on October 22.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
