Two Unrelated Deaths Under Investigation in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. – July 23, 2026 – The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker confirms that two unrelated deaths that occurred in Lawrence today are under investigation.

Early this morning, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to Tucker’s office responded to a fatal shooting on Bay State Rd. in Lawrence. A 44-year-old male was pronounced deceased.

This afternoon, authorities responded to reports of a deceased female in the Merrimack River. The woman’s body has been recovered but she has not been identified at this time. Both incidents remain under investigation.
