Tymond Tran Arraigned for Rape of Child and Other Charges

SALEM, Mass. – July 22, 2026 – In Essex County Superior Court today, Tymond Tran, 38, of Hudson, New Hampshire, a former teacher in Lynn and Lowell, Massachusetts, was arraigned on several counts tied to crimes involving a then-14-year-old student that are alleged to have occurred during the 2022-2023 school year, when Tran was an eighth-grade teacher at the Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Lynn.

Before the Hon. John C. Fraser, Tran pleaded not guilty to rape of a child aggravated by an age difference of ten years or more, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, exhibiting a child in a nude or lascivious pose, and distributing obscene matter to a minor.

Prosecutor Kate MacDougall represented the Commonwealth at the arraignment. Tran was represented by attorney Megan Stanley. Tran is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial conference on August 26. In the meantime, the judge ruled that he must: wear a GPS and be on house arrest 24-7 except for emergency medical, court, and attorney visits; have no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18; submit to random device searches; reside at an Attleboro address; stay away from and have no contact with any victim or witness; and not possess any child sexual abuse material.

All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
